✝️ Living the Easter Season: A Catholic Reflection for May 5, 2025 by Rev. Fr. Daniel Ogbeifun.✝️

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” – John 11:25

As we journey through the beautiful Easter Season, today—Monday, May 5th, 2025—reminds us that the joy of the Resurrection is not limited to Easter Sunday. The Church, in her wisdom, gives us fifty full days to celebrate, reflect, and live the power of Christ’s victory over death.

🌼 Still in the Light of Easter

We are now in the Sixth Week of Easter, moving steadily toward the great feast of Pentecost. This time is a spiritual invitation to remain close to the Risen Lord, to deepen our trust in His promises, and to prepare our hearts for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Today’s Gospel reading (check your parish bulletin or missal) continues to reflect the words and actions of Jesus after His resurrection—a time when He strengthened His disciples, restored their faith, and prepared them for mission.

🕊 What Can We Learn Today?

Today’s reflection is a simple but powerful reminder:

God is still working in the quiet.

Even though Easter Sunday has passed, God is still transforming hearts. The empty tomb wasn’t the end—it was the beginning. Many of us are still waiting for healing, for answers, for peace—and that’s okay. The resurrection isn’t just an event; it’s a process of becoming fully alive in Christ.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I still open to the graces of Easter?
  • Have I allowed the Risen Christ to enter the locked doors of my heart like He did for the disciples?
  • What part of my life still needs resurrection?

🙏 A Prayer for Today – Monday of the 6th Week of Easter

Risen Lord,
As I walk through this new day,
Help me to live in the light of Your Resurrection.
Let not fear, doubt, or sorrow hold me back.
Renew my spirit, deepen my faith,
And open my heart to the work of the Holy Spirit.
Mary, Mother of the Risen Lord, pray for me.
Amen.

🌹 A Marian Month

Let’s not forget: May is the Month of Mary. As we honor the Blessed Virgin, we are encouraged to pray the Rosary, meditate on her virtues, and ask for her motherly intercession in our daily walk with Christ.

Today would be a beautiful time to:

  • Visit a Marian shrine or statue.
  • Offer a Hail Mary for someone in need.
  • Reflect on Mary’s faith during the Resurrection.

✨ Final Reflection

Each day of the Easter season is a chance to practice resurrection—to rise above the old ways, to believe again, and to rejoice in God’s mercy. May May 5th, 2025 be a day of spiritual renewal, small victories, and quiet graces.

Christ is Risen—still and always. Alleluia!
